What your first class looks like
1
Pick a class time
Choose a time that works for you. It takes less than a minute.
2
Meet your coach
You'll be welcomed, shown around, and get a quick intro to what we do.
3
Train at your pace
Warm-up, technique of the day, partner drilling, then live rounds at whatever pace you choose.
Gi vs No-Gi BJJ
Gi (Mon & Sat)
Trained in the traditional kimono. Grips on the collar and sleeves make it slower and more technical — great for problem solving and building precise fundamentals.
No-Gi (Tue–Fri)
Trained in shorts and a rash guard. Faster pace, more wrestling-style scrambles, and skills that carry straight into self-defense and fitness.
Your coach
Classes are led by Coach Mason, who built the Stoic Martial Arts culture around skill development and safety, alongside a coaching staff with backgrounds in BJJ, wrestling, judo, boxing and Muay Thai. As one member put it: “Coach Mason has a gift for teaching and has set an atmosphere in the entire place that cultivates learning.”

Adult BJJ FAQs
Do I need any experience?
None. Most of our members walked in having never trained. Your first session is a guided intro with a coach, so you learn the basics at your pace.
Is my first class really free?
Yes — your first class is on us. Schedule ahead so a coach is ready to welcome you.
What should I wear?
Comfortable athletic clothes with no zippers or metal, and a water bottle. We provide a gi for your first class, so there's nothing to buy before you start.
What if I'm worried about getting hurt?
Train without ego is our house rule. You tap early and often, set your own intensity, and coaches pair you with partners who train with control.
How often should I train?
Most members come 2–3 times a week, which is plenty to progress steadily.
Am I locked into a contract?
No.
